19th PROVINCIAL TRAINING & PROGRAMME‏

SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON 1st APRIL, 2012

19th Provincial Training & Programme Sub Committee Meeting held under the chairmanship of Mr. Khalid Mahmood APC Training & Programme. After the routine proceedings committee decided the dates of Shaheen leader training Course which will be held from 20th to 26th April, Course leader will be Syed Najam ul Hassan ALT. committee also decided to postpone Training & Programme Conference till further decision. Due to heavy work load on Mr. Nasir khan his office on the recommendation of members APC Training & Programme Mr. Khalid Mahmood appoint Mr. Usman Pasha LT as secretary Provincial Training & Programme Sub-Committee as per National training policy & System however Mr. Nasir Khan Lt will remain work as secretary Training & Programme of PIABSA. On the eve of retirement of Mr. Nawab Ali Shah from the service of PIA on 9th April 2012, the Committee resolved to appreciate his services as Vice Chairman of the Committee and requested him to continue playing his role as a Leader Trainer.

PIA SCOUTS PROUDLY SUPPORT EARTH HOUR 2012‏

In line with the World Scouts guideline, PIA Boy Scouts Association is proud to join Earth Hour Campaign; the largest voluntary action in history and the world’s largest global climate change initiative. All Rovers, Scouts and Shaheens will ensure that all non-essential lightings are switched off for one hour in their area on 31 March 2012 between 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Like and share to max as we love to live in a good environment.

PRESIDENT GOLD MEDAL AWARD CEREMONY ISLAMABAD

PIABSA’s 19 SHAHEEN,BOY AND ROVER SCOUTS RECEIVED AWARDS

On the occasion of worlds Scout Day 22^nd February 2012 a graceful ceremony organized by National Head quarters Pakistan Boy scouts Association at Auditorium of federal board of secondary and Intermediate Education Islamabad. Chief Commissioner Pakistan Boy Scouts association Mr. Justice Agha Rafique Ahmad Khan was the chief guest who distributed the President Gold Medal awards of Shaheen, Boy and Rover Scouts from the year 2003 to 2009.International Commissioner Dr. Shaheen Khan and National Commissioner for Training & Program Cdr.(R) Aftab Asghar Qureshi  Provincial Secretaries and other distinguish guest were present.Nawab Ali Shah Provincial Secretary and Khalid Mahmood APC Training & Programme PIABSA and Secretary National Training & Programme sub Committee PBSA attended the ceremony along with PIABSA’s Awardees.

Selection Camp for Best Scouts of the Year 2011

Nabeel Khalid Declared Best Rover Scout Of the Year 2011

National Selection Camp, for the selection of best scouts of the year 2011 was held in National Scouts Headquarter of Pakistan Boy Scouts Association, Islamabad from 11^th to 13^th January, 2012.

Nabeel Khalid of Engineering District (Gold Medalist – Rover section) and Shayan Ahmed of Air Scout District(Gold Medalist – Shaheen section) participated from PIA boy scouts association.

Three members team was formed for this camp. Cdr. (R) Aftab A. Qureshi National Commissioner Training & Programme was the Camp Chief and Mr. Khalid Mahmood Secretary National Training & Programme Sub Committee, member and also act as secretary whereas Mr. Zahid Mehboob Deputy Director Training was the member of team. Team Thoroughly evaluate the all participants as per criteria laid down in National Youth Policy & system by written paper, oral examinations practical tests and at the last Interview. 5 Shaheen 4 scouts and 6 rover Scouts Participated from all provincial Associations.

After the approval of Chief Commissioner Pakistan Boy Scouts Association Results are announced and Mr. Ali Muhammad Shaheen Scout Of Sindh BSA, Mr. Moiz Ali Boy Scout Of Sindh BSA and Mr. Nabeel Khalid Rover Scout Of PIA BSA Declared Best Scouts Of The Year 2011.

PIA FIRST LADY WOOD BADGER RECEIVED HER PARCHMENT

PIABSA is running its Training & Programme division under the supervision of APC Training & Programme Khalid Mahmood who distributed wood badge parchments to the PIA leaders who successfully completed their all three phases of training. On the occasion of birthday celebrations of Quaid-e-azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah the first chief scout of Pakistan. Mr. Khalid Mahmood present wood badge parchment to Mrs.Tasawwur Attique deputy provincial secretary and in-charge of girls in scouting in PIABSA who becomes first lady wood badger of PIABSA along with other air scout district leaders. Mr. Shahid Pervez, Mr. Ayaz Ahmed, Mr. Muhammad Tariq, Mr. Muhammad Arif Farooqui.

Annual Selection Camp for President Gold Medal and other provincial Awards held at PIA Scouts Training Center, Gulistan-e- Johar, Karachi from 15th to 18th December 2011 under the supervision of Mr. Khalid Mahmood APC Training & Programme who acted as Camp Chief whereas MS. Tasawwur Atique was the Camp Secretary.
Three teams where formed according to nominations for smooth running of camp activities:

Interviews were taken by Mr. Shahnawaz Rehman Provincial Commissioner who also distributed the certificates to all the participants and Service Team of Air scout District. In his speech, he gave his golden words to the participants and congratulates to awardees.
MR. Nawab Ali Shah Provincial Secretary announces the results and names of winners of awardees. Mr. Khalid Mahmood Assistant Provincial Commissioner thanked his team for their cooperation and dedication. He also thanked Service team of Air Scout District who rendered their valuable services in very good manner during the camp.

ALLAMA IQBAL DAY 2011 - Lahore District

Lahore District celebrated  9th November, 2011(Allama Iqbal Day). As per programme all scouts reported Scout Den at 0900 hrs. After assembly Mr. Muhammad Anees, DRL briefed the programme and Chief Guest of the programme Mr. Musa Khan was pass on some instruction. At 0930 hrs all scouts and leaders were seated for going to Allama Iqbal Mazar with flower wreath. At 1000 hrs reached at Mazar and Chief Guest Mr. Musa with all scouts and leaders delivered flower wreath and Fateh on mazar.

65TH NATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING OF PBSA

65th National Council Meeting of Pakistan Boy Scouts Association held at Global village National Headquarters Islamabad on 19th October 2011.
Mr. Shahnawaz Rehman Provincial Commissioner, Mr. Muhammad Shuaib International Commissioner, Mr. Khalid Mahmood Asst. Prov. Commissioner, Mr. Nawab Ali Shah Provincial Secretary from PIABSA participated in this meeting.
Senior Deputy Chief Commissioner Mr. Ghulam Ali Pasha chaired the meeting after routine proceeding election of chief commissioner held and Mr. Justice Agha Rafiq Ahmed Khan elected as chief commissioner of Pakistan Boy Scouts Association un oppose. Dr. Shaheen khan elected as a International Commissioner and Syed Maqbool Raza re elected as a honorary Treasurer of Pakistan Boy Scouts Association.
Mr. Naveed ullah Babar re instated as National Secretary of Pakistan Boy Scouts Association after 10 years. Mr. Yameen Ali Qureshi handed over the charge of National Secretary.
Meeting ended with the vote of thanks and with appreciation to outgoing chief commissioner, International Commissioner and National Secretary for their devotion towards scouting.

18th MEETING OF PROVINCIAL TRNG.& PROG. SUB COMMITTEE 2011

18th Meeting of Provincial Trng. and Prog. sub committee 2011 held on 16th October 2011 under the chairman ship of APC Trng & prog. MR. Khalid Mahmood at PHQ after routine proceeding camping and training plan of 2011 reviewed, progress of printing of Quaid-e-azam hand book informed to the house, further more a new documents of Trng. and prog. policy procedures of PIABSA discussed and finalized for submission in Provincial executive committee.
Dates and teams for high rank badges for south and north divisions finalized as (20th November at Karachi for South Division and 27th November at Lahore for North division).
Dates of Annual Selection camp for President Gold medal and other awards is finalized from 15th to 18th December 2011.
Desert Hike for Rovers is also discussed and finalized in the mid of January 2012 in Cholistan.

HAJJ OPERATION 2011 - (LAHORE DISTRICT)‏

Lahore Hajj Operation started w.e.f. 1st October 2011 till 31st October, 2011. Lahore District formed two team for Haji Camp and two for Hajj Terminal, Airport, Lahore. Haji Camp Incharges are Mr. Abdul Hafeez and Mr. S.M. Shujaat Ali with Lahore District Rovers and 1st half Karachi Rover Scouts performing duties. At Hajj Terminal Airport,  Incharges Mr. Muhammad Anees and Mr. Muhammad Asghar Virk and Lahore Rovers performing duties in alternate day.

Inaugural flight Chief Guest was PIA Managing Director Mr. Nadeem Khan Yousafzai and from Government Chief Guest was Mrs. Samina Khalid Gurki, Federal Minister, at that time District Manager PIA Lahore, Station Manager PIA LAHORE, from Lahore District Mr. Musa Khan Astt.Distt. Commissioner, District Secretary Mr. Muhammad Akram Rahi and all Airport Agencies Chief were Present.

FLOOD RELIEF PROGRAM SUPPORT

PIA Scouts have also been actively engaged to support this operation. Following is a brief of their contribution:

• A coordination team comprising of two senior scouts has been detailed at ERC.
• Collection Camp is being manned by the Scouts.
• Scouts are being used for loading and unloading the relief goods.
• They also accompanied relief goods trucks sent to Nawabshah.
• Their best performance during these week long duties was on 24 September, 2011 when a group of 50 Scouts continuously worked for 6 hours to off loaded the tents from 5 Chinese IL-76 Cargo Aircraft and to load the same on trucks and trolleys. Though other workers were also there the enthusiasm and passion of these boys was appreciably remarkable. A day before also 4 Chinese aircraft had arrived but despite of hiring external work force the time consumed considerably delayed the flights. Besides, considerable saving of expense on hiring the labour, on this day when Scouts were called the Chinese Consulate Team and Aircraft Crew was quite happy with their performance.

 

21st SEPTEMBER PEACE DAY 2011

The United Nations began Peace Day in 1981 as a way to celebrate the efforts of so many people around the world to spread the cause of peace love. On September 21, 1982 the first Peace Day was celebrated all over the world. There are many ways that people can celebrate peace love in their particular part of the world, either on their own or with a group or association of like minded individuals.

Like the other Scout associations from all over the world PIA boy scouts association also celebrated this Peace day on 21 September at their Provincial Headquarters Karachi.

For this, a seminar is arranged and boy scouts and rover scouts were invited to the seminar from different districts of PIABSA.
In seminar the area of discussion was how can we create peace through scouting?  Different groups share their ideas and presented to the whole audience.

The chief guest of the Seminar was APC Event & Activities Mr. Rashid Amin Daar. He also addressed to the scouts and rovers with their precious words and lightens up the points by which we can create peace through our acts. And also appreciated the good speakers of the seminar.

In closing APC Trng. & Prog. Mr. Khalid Mahmood also addressed to the scouts and shares his ideas. After that chairman youth Mr. Humayun Shabbir said thanking words to all the participants and chief guest for their participation.

At the end Certificates were distributed among the participants and organizers of seminar.

PIA SCOUTS CELEBRATED INDEPENDENCE DAY ALL OVER THE COUNTRY

Flag hoisted by DMD Saleem Sayani at Head Office

PIA Scouts Association celebrated Independence Day by organizing Flag Hoisting Ceremonies at all of its major stations. Festive programs were chalked out and these events were attended by a good number of scouts, high officials of the association and Management Team Members.

Most significant of these events was held at PIA Head Office Karachi where Mr. Saleem Sayani, Deputy Managing Director PIA along with Shahnawaz Rehman Provincial Commissioner, Capt. Saleem Ahmed Director HRA&C, Muhammad Shuaib International Commissioner hoisted the Flag and recited national anthem in a graceful ceremony attended by almost three hundred scouts of south division including Girls in Scouting. The event was organized by the Admin District in an appreciable manner.

After Flag Hoisting all scouts and officials listened the speech of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gillani telecasted from Convention Centre Islamabad.

A group of fifty scouts attended the ceremonies at Mazar-e-Quaid and laid flower wreath and offered fateha at the occasion.

A group of girls visited the Daar-ul-Sehat Hospital and distributed gifts and flag buntings amongst the patients.

AAJ NEWS TV SHOW ON SCOUTING TELECASTED

Large number of PIASA scouts & officials participated

Mr. Rizwan Jaffar National Commissioner Youth Affairs PSA arranged a TV Show on Topic ‘Scouting in Pakistan’. It’s a special episode of his show ‘SAWAL HAI PAKISTAN KA’ which is onair today on AAJ NEWS. (11th August at 10pm).

Program recorded at the mausoleum of the founder of Pakistan & First Chief Scout of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It is an iconic symbol of Karachi throughout the world. The mausoleum is situated at the heart of the city.

Its an interactive talk show & current leaders of National Scouting reply the questions of scouting regarding the Scouting in Pakistan & the role of Scout movement for the betterment of Pakistan.

PIA SCOUTS CONTINGENT ARRIVED AFTER ATTENDING SWEDEN JAMBOREE

PIA Scouts contingent of 18 Scouts and International Service Team members reached Karachi after attending world Scouts Jamboree under the leadership of Provincial Secretary Nawab Ali Shah and Yasir Khan as a Troop Leader at Sweden. APC Trng. & Prog. Khalid Mahmood APC Special Project Raja Zahid, secretary Trng. & Prog. Nasir Khan, Secretary Public Relations Mehboob Qadri, Abdul Qayyum Khan and other District officials welcomed the Contingent at Quaid-e-Azam Jinnah International Airport.

PIA ROVER YOUTH FORUM 2011 (22^ND JULY TO 24^TH JULY)

PIA Scouts Association organized the 3^rd Rover scouts Youth Forum from 22^nd July to 24^th July 2011 at its Provincial Head Quarters PIA Township Karachi Airport 34 rover scouts from all over the Pakistan participated in this forum. First day Election of youth forum steering committee and executives conducted under the supervision of Mr. Usman Pasha Leader Trainer and Mr. Humayun Shabir (chairman), Miss Memoona Khan (Vice chair person), Nabeel Qureshi (Secretary) Ahad Iqbal, Nabeel Khalid, Miss Saba Mumtaz and Nouman Shah Bukhari elected as steering committee members. On 23^rd July opening ceremony was held and in opening speech APC Training and programme Mr. Khalid Mahmood explained the objectives of youth forum and said that we want to implement youth empowerment in PIA scouting and want to listen the voice of youth for betterment and make more attractive scouting for other youth. Youth forum was distributed in four groups who worked together and make recommendations after two days discussions. Under the chairman ship of Humayun Shabir steering committee finalize the recommendations and present at the time of closing ceremony. The chief guest for closing ceremony was National commissioner for youth affairs/deputy international Commissioner Pakistan Scouts Association Mr. Rizwan Jaffar renowned media Anchor person who express his views congratulate PIA SA for successfully organizing of youth forum by its committed Training team, after that he distributed the souvenirs to participants. Youth forum was organized by the Admin district Team under the leadership of Mr. Sajawal District Secretary and zahooruddin ADC with the help of Mr. Nasir Khan Secretary Training & Programme and secretary Managing Committee.

ISTAQLAL BADGE CAMP PIASA KARACHI

Istaqlal badge camp has been held from 15^th to 21^st July 2011 at PIA Scouts Training centre Gulistan-e-Jauhar Karachi under auspices of Academy district. 25 participants from south division participated in the camp. Mr. Nasir Khan Secretary Training was the Chief Guest at the opening Ceremony of camp. During camp participants have been trained by Mr. Muhammad Shuaib International Commissioner, Mr. Ather DGM Safety, Mr. Sarfaraz Jaffery Commandant Civil Defence, Mr. Tariq Moin APC ERP & PR, Mr. Usman Pasha senior Leader Trainer, Mr. Nasir Khan Secretary Training & Program, Mr. Shafqat Sheraz ADC Training & Program Academy District and others camp’s Training team members. The training syllabus consists of Orienteering, Map Reading & Making, Estimation, First Aid, Use of Axe & Saw, Knots, Lashing, Splices, pioneering Project and proficiency badges of civil defence & Air safety. Participants have also hiked 30Km in the outskirts of Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Karachi Airport. Mr. Khalid Mahmood APC Training & Program was the Chief Guest at Certificate distribution ceremony who distributed certificates among the participants. Mr. Rashid Zafar District Commissioner Academy District was also present at the ceremony and he thanked Chief Guest, Camp Team, Training Team and participants for taking interest in the camp and making it a successful camp. Mr. Khalid Mahmood lauded the efforts of Camp team for organizing such a successful camp even with vulnerable law n order situation in city.

Subcommittee meeting 09th July 2011

PIASA Training & Programme sub-committee meeting was held at Provincial Head Quarter PIASA Karachi under the chairmanship of APC Training & Programme Khalid Mahmood after the routine proceedings Raja Zahid Ahmed present a resolution to congratulate Mr. Khalid Mahmood on his appointment as secretary National Training & Programme subcommittee. In the meeting review of camping & Training Plan 2011 Presented by Mr. Nasir Khan Secretary Training & Programme. Arrangements of coming youth forum were discussed. Training & camping Plan 2012 formulated.

Nawab Ali shah Prov. Secretary Muhammad Usman secretary Events & Activities Abdul Aziz District Secretary Engineering and chairman last youth forum Zafar Iqbal were also Present in this meeting. Meeting ended with the vote of Thanks by Participants.

Cricket Gala Tournament 2011

After a nice and competitive match finally Engineering District won the tournament against Academy District in Finals. Chief guest APC Events & Activities Rashid Amin Dar and Secretary Trng. & Prog. Mr. Nasir Khan gave Trophies to the runners up and winner of the Tournament teams.

WFP T-Shirts Distribution Ceremony

A ceremony conducted under supervision of APC PR / ERP, PIA Scouts Association Mr. Tariq
Moen at Emergency Response Centre (ERC), Corporate Safety & QA Building at 2:45 pm on
Thursday 7 July 2011 in which all District Secretaries, Provincial Leaders and Scouts who
gave their service with WFP participated. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was APC
International Affairs Mr. Muhammad Shuaib and Provincial Commissioner Shanawaz Rehman who
after addressing to scouts appreciated them and also give sovieners from WFP.

Appointement of Secretary National Trng. & Prog. Sub Committee

Chief Comissioner PSA Lt. Gen. Syed Parwez Shahid (HIM) (Rtd) appointed Mr. Khalid Mahmood (L.T) APC Trng & Prog. PIASA as a Secretary National Training & Prog. Sub Committee Pakistan Scouts Association on the recommendation of Director Trng. & Prog. Mr. Zahid Mehboob.

PIA Scouts Association is committed to serve the humanity

Executive Committee reviews the progress and Provincial Commissioner values the zealous performance

PIA Scouts Association who earns the status of a province in national scouting setup held its 41st Provincial Executive Committee Meeting at Provincial Headquarters Karachi. All Provincial Executive members attended this meeting under the Chairmanship of Provincial Commissioner Mr. Shahnawaz Rehman. During the initial proceedings Minutes of the previous meeting were endorsed and points arising out of that meeting were thrashed for implementation.

Afterwards, Provincial Secretary Nawab Ali Shah presented the draft amendments in the PIA Scouts Association (PIA-SA) Bye-Laws and Hajj Policy 2009. It was decided that amendments in bye-laws and Hajj Policy should be thoroughly studied by the participants and based on their valuable draft these should be considered for approval during the next meeting. To promote youth and scout spirit amongst them, the committee was pleased to approve that President’s Gold Medalist Scouts will be treated ‘ Fresh’ without affecting the District Quota, if they had already performed their Haj duty as per seniority/merit in past.

The following decisions took place in the meeting:

- PIA Scouts Association’s initiative of uplifting the youth through Cricket

Academy was appreciated and to discuss the matters on the subject, a
meeting will soon be held between Sports Division and PIA Scouts under the
Chairmanship of Provincial Commissioner.

- Investiture Ceremony of Chief Scout PIA, Capt. Nadeem Khan Yousufzai will
be held on a date coordinated with his office. A committee was formed to
make all relevant arrangements for the ceremony.

- To encourage the Girls in Scouting, committee recommended the Umrah Incentive
for the selected Scout Girls with their Mehram. A committee was formed to
finalize and submit the policy during the next meeting for approval in the Provincial Council.

- The Chair advised Asst. Provincial Commissioner (PR&ERP) Mr. Tariq Moen to promptly update PIA Scouts on various training programs, events and activities utilization on PIA Scouts Website and Face book tools.

- Accordingly PIA Scouts can apply and participate thorough their respective districts. Internal Communication should also be strengthened through e-mails and Text msgs. Nationwide coverage of all such healthy activities for youth should also be projected through effective external communication by
print and electronic coverage.

- In line with the World Scout Movement Conference at Brazil, PIA will take lead in establishing emergency response discipline to immediately help the affecters of natural and man-made disasters. It may be highlighted here that this resolution was passed by the WOSM for implementation by the
Scouts Associations world over, after being inspired by the PIA Scouts support to UN World Food Program Helicopter Operation during devastating floods in the country.

- Air-conditioning of Provincial Headquarters was appreciated by the committee and renovation and painting at PHQ and PIA Scouts Centre at Gulistan-e-Jauhar were agreed.

Closing the meeting Provincial Commissioner appreciated the humanitarian efforts of the association for the community and emphasized on continuing the gesture through innovative ideas towards the mission.

11^TH NATIONAL TRAINING & PROGRAMME CONFERENCE ISLAMABAD

11^th National Training & Programme conference organized by Pakistan Scouts Association at Sports Complex Islamabad from 16^th to 17^th April 2011. More than Hundred Leader Trainers and Assistant Leader Trainers from all over Pakistan participated in this Conference which was held after a period of eight years. Conference inaugurated by Chief Commissioner Pakistan Scouts Association Lt. Gen. Syed Pervez Shahid(R) HIM. M/S Khalid Mahmood LT, Nawab Ali Shah LT, Muhammad Nasir Khan LT, Raja Zahid Ahmed LT, Muhammad Usman ALT, Syed Najam-ul-Hassan ALT, Ch. Umar Din ALT, and Muhammad Ejaz ALT participated from PIA. Mr. Zahid Mahboob Director Training & Programme was the Conference Director and Mr. Ali Yamin Qureshi, National Secretary was the Co- Director, Mr. Abuzar Mansoor was Deputy Director and Mr. Munir Ahmed Bhullar acted as Secretary of the Training Conference whereas all members of Training & Programme Sub-Committee were utilized as Facilitators. A Resolution Committee consisting of members from all provinces was formed who elected a Chairman Mr. Fakhrudin LT from KPK and Mr. Khalid Mahmood LT from PIA as Secretary who presented the Resolutions to house which were unanimously approved by the participants. Chief Commissioner Lt. Gen S.P. Shahid distributed the certificates to the participants.

"Jashn-e-Eid Miladul Alnabbi Salallaho Alehe Wa Sallam was celebrated by Engineering District at PHQ PIABSA PIA Township Karachi. Qari Mulana Yasin Sahib was the chief guest of the occasion. Other than great number of boy and girl scouts of Admin, Academy, Air Scout, Engineering, K.B.O., PIA Model School and Girl scout group, APC Events & Activities Rashid Amin Dar APC Training & Programme Khalid Mahmood, Provincial Secretary Nawab Ali Shah, Deputy Provincial secretary Mrs. Tasawur Attique,Secretary Events& Activities Muhammad usman, Secretary Training & programme Muhammad Nasir khan, Secretary Public relation Abdul Qyyum Khan,Secretary Special Projects Syed Aijaz Ali Shah and District commissioner Zahid Ahmed Raja were also present with other district officials.

Qirrat ul Quraan competition for shaheen scouts, Naat-e- Rasool P.B.U.H. competition and Quiz competition for Boy Scouts and Speech Competition on serat ul Nabbi was organized. Shields and Trophies were given to winners by chief guest."
